NEWRY SWIMMERS COLLECT IN LARNE

25th and 26th of March saw Larne host their annual open gala and plenty of the swimmers from Newry and Mourne made the long trip north hoping to secure their times for the Irish divisions competitions held every summer. All the hours training paid off for some of the lucky swimmers. Sean Mc Kevitt secured division 1 times in the 200m breaststroke and the 100m back. Oran Mc Stay secured a division 2 time in the 100m butterfly and also came 3rd in the event, while younger brother Keven also got division 2 times in the 100 and 200m breaststroke. Stephanie Hart got division 2 times in the 100 and 200m breaststroke and the 200m back and Liam og Mathers got a division 2 time in the 100m back. Maeve O’ Hare got a qualifying time in the 50m back and Niall O’ Hare got a qualifying time in the 200m IM. These times will take them further along the Swim Ulster performance pathway. All the other Newry swimmers managed to secure personal best times.

Niall O’ Hare, Oran and Keven Mc Stay also took part in the Swim Ireland “swim a mile” on Thursday evening in the Olympia in Belfast. All 3 clocked up fantastic times at the event.
